I don't think Ugg could possibly beat them for comfort, durability or looks. My husband has had this boot and I've had the women's high boot for 9-10 years. My husband tried on Uggs and every other sheepskin boot he could find before buying these. (Yes, he is the shopper, not me.) He says Old Friends have the thickest lining, most comfort and best tread. His only complaint is that he wishes they would make a men's high boot. Ten years out, and my husband's boots are going strong, except for replacing the sheepskin insole inserts once (easy pull outs). 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful I wanted to like the Old Friend boots but UGG boots won me over, November 9, 2011 By guy "in search of knowledge" (Mnt View , CA, USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Old Friend Men's Low Boot (Apparel) I purchased a pair of size 11M Old Friend and a pair of size 11M UGG boots so that I could compare fit, comfort, quality, and look. First both boot brands are made in China. I tried the boots with no socks.
FIT: The UGG boots fit closer to the leg due to a smaller cuff diameter. In the Old Friend boots, the cuff diameter is larger so the boots feel looser around the legs. On the Old Friend boots, the feet fit slightly looser due to a thicker foot base. So a person with a thicker feet (not wider) would feel the Old friend boots more comfortable. Width wise, both boots are about the same.
COMFORT: Both boot brands have wonderful thick warm sheep/lamb fur on the inside. The UGG boots are about 1/8 lighter than the Old Friend boots. The sheepskin and the sole on the UGG's boot is more flexible compared to Old Friend.
QUALITY: Both boot brands are well made. However, The Old Friend boots have more stitching. So they look rugged and might last longer than... Read more
